Oukaimeden is Morocco's ski station at 2,660m, and in summer it is the gateway to the most technical singletrack in North Africa. It is the highest riding on any of our tours, and it appears on exactly one of them.

Oukaimeden is Morocco’s ski station, at 2,660m, about two hours from Marrakech. In winter it has lifts and snow. In summer it is empty, and it is the gateway to some of the best technical terrain in North Africa.
Nothing else we ride starts this high. The altitude is the whole proposition: you are dropped at the top and the trails go down from there, through terrain that would take most of a day to climb to anywhere else in the range.
This is the one place on the site where we are not trying to widen the audience. The riding off the ski station is steep, loose and committing, and it appears on exactly one of our tours for that reason.
Technical singletrack straight off the station, then over the Tizi Addi and down through the Tachedirt valley — a big first day that tells us quickly how a group actually rides, rather than how they described themselves in an email.
From there the week works west, over the Tizi n'Tamatert at 2,300m and down to Imlil, then on over the Tizi Tzikerte with mules carrying the bikes, into the Ouazzaden and Amizmiz valleys. The Tizi Tzikerte descent is the best technical trail we know here and it is only reachable that way.
Expect loose rock, off-camber ground, real exposure in places and descents that run for kilometres. There are no berms, no signage and no maintenance crew.
Advanced riders only, and we are deliberately strict about it. Putting an intermediate rider on this terrain does not produce a stretched rider, it produces a hurt one, a long way from a road.
Most people on the enduro trip bring their own bike, because setup matters more on this ground than anywhere else we ride. We run 160–170mm bikes for those who do not. Bring more brake pads than you think you need.
The season is short. At this altitude the snow closes it for a good part of the year, so the riding here runs roughly from late spring into autumn, and the exact window moves with the year.
2,660m, which makes it the highest riding on any of our tours and the highest lift-served ground in Morocco. For comparison, Imlil — where most of our riding starts — is at 1,740m.
No, and we will say so plainly if you ask. The terrain off the ski station is steep, loose and technical with real consequences. If you want high mountain riding without that, the Tizi n'Tamatert above Imlil at 2,300m is the one to ride.
The 8-day Morocco enduro tour, which starts there on day one. It is the only trip we run that includes it, because it is the only trip with a group we would take onto that ground.
In winter, yes — it is a working ski station. Our riding there is a summer and shoulder-season thing, for the obvious reason. The two seasons do not overlap.
